Film trailers Analysis

Well I was asked to get 3 film trailers to look at write about and here they are :

Jeepers Creepers 3 Lighting
At the start you see the introduction of the main characters the lighting that is used is high key with many bright colours which makes the scene seem and feel more relaxed this helps us determine that main characters mood in this scene which is very high and happy this is because they have just moved in to there new house . Then in an instant the scene changes into another scene by the use of a jump cut and when it brings in the new scene the lighting has completely changed to low key lighting with high contrast this enables the scene to build up tension it also lets the audience know that something is about to happen in the trailer. Then it jumps to another scene and this time this scene is much darker this tells the audience that the mood of the scene has completely dropped and that the horror is about to begin this gets the viewers thinking of what's going to happen next this keeps them entertained in the trailer without giving away to much of the film. There is also a scene where one of the main characters goes outside to investigate and all you see outside is the dimly light lights this makes the scene seem really scary and quite realistic because I'm sure all of us has been in a dark scary discomforting atmosphere before.

Editing in Jeepers Creepers 3is done well in the trailer its edited so it can hook you in without giving away to much of the upcoming film this allows the viewer to be able to watch the clips and then go watch it in the cinema. It starts of with the main characters talking about there pleasant memory as a child then all of a sudden it goes to there bad memory's by a use of fast jump cuts to violent scenes . During the course of the trailer the editor puts in many fades this allows them to cut to a whole new scene of the film without confusing the viewer it builds this fluidity up and also keeps the audience hooked. Then at the end of the film the editor has put in a title scene this tells the viewer when the film is coming out and what the name of the film is .

Mise en scene in the Expendables trailer makes the whole trailer seem more believable for the audence . The Expendables is basically about a bunch of mercenaries doing there job. You could say that getting the right props is a piece of cake but your wrong allot of thought clearly has been put in this from the heavy machine guns to the stupidly large explosions . This all fits together creating this sense of realism for the audience. Also the outfits they wear like the the leather jackets and tank tops shows us that there rebellious and the explosions shows us that the film is male dominant and its aimed at males.
